“You’re my dawg...” —Young

Mike Young was born in 1978 in Tennessee, USA. He studied for three years at Roane State Community College in Tennessee, and one year at Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

Young works professionally as a web designer at Vir2L.com. “We all work as a team at Vir2L, and don't take credit as individuals on the productions,” states Young. His artwork consists of using overloads of 2d illustrator pop cultural icons with photography and 3d renders. Most of his photography is done using a mini DV and two Sony cameras. Young finds inspiration in daily life, from people, music, nightlife culture, and the artists that work with him at Vir2L.

He has gained international recognition from two of his online projects, a co-production at Submethod, and a personal site at Designgraphik. Submethod was launched online on May 1st 2000, a collective project combining music, design, and writing in flash films. Consequently, “color” has been a predominant expression in Mike Young's art work, after redesigning Designgraphik this year, his artistic approach has left designers speechless! The site has a beautiful design layout, with a smooth degrade coloring. “Color is something I do not even look at others for. I feel color is something I'm very comfortable with, and can get the right vibes using my imagination,” says Young.
