| “At
times things seem impossible to achieve.
But if you truly believe
in an idea, a vision, a goal — in
yourself; you can make the
impossible possible.” —de
Barros
Adriana de Barros was born in 1976
in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. At the age
of three, she moved to Toronto, Canada,
returning to her homeland at 15.
Adriana presently works as an advertising
designer in Portugal; she is a co-owner
of a family business, a clothing company
called Silver Coast, and a Copy Center with
a Design section. In 1999, she has made
a turn to web design and programming in
the ever-growing world wide web. Since then,
she has found her place online in combining
various art forms into each project - by
first launching a personal portfolio site
with poetry and art at Breathewords.com
and a modern 1st edition book site at oceanazur.com.
Two years later, Adriana launched Scene
360. “I’ve always been fascinated
and experimental with different art forms,
movements, and styles. Cinema, art, literature,
poetry, and music are the things I truly
enjoy! I try to explore new possibilities
of creativity by expanding my artistic horizons.
I could never imagine limiting myself to
working in only one art style or form; that’s
why I'm constantly studying, improving my
skills, and experimenting new techniques,”
explains Adriana.
Her poetry has been featured at international
events, on websites, and in books, appearing
at Poetry.com, poems that Go, Flashbang!,
Visual Arts Trends, Poptransit, and Fluxo.com.
Not only does she write, she also blends
poetic verses with graphic design and Flash
animation. “One of my goals in life
was to become a film director. I have created
a section on Scene 360 with cinematography
and film analysis, but I do hope to pursue
cinema on a larger scale. My visual poems
are a little way of achieving cinema-type
sequences and making poetry more appealing
for the viewers.”
It’s difficult to put Adriana into
a niche, impossible to define only one style
of art, with all her versatile exploration.
Her imagination has often lead to breaking
new boundaries, and she has been recognized
for it at the most popular art and design
websites. From Renaissance to Surrealism,
Pop art, Dark art, and many others, one
thing is certain: She hasn’t stopped
there. “People are constantly surprised
with all the different types of projects
I dedicate my time to. I have worked on
perfecting these techniques for many years,
or else, you end up trying to do ALL, but
nothing... I prefer to prioritize and select
my true passions - develop my skills until
they’re excellent.”
